Thomson Reuters was honored with a UPOP Internship Excellence Award in 2006, which recognizes corporations that reinforce UPOP’s learning objectives by providing challenging internships. Thomson Reuters has hosted UPOP interns since 2004, and sent multiple representatives to mentor and teach students during UPOP’s weeklong professional development workshops.
When former MIT professor Marty Schlecht ’77 left 11 years ago to start the power-converter company SynQor Inc., he wanted to bring his entrepreneurial experiences back to MIT in any way possible. He began as a mentor-instructor with UPOP, and has hired several interns.
